The Fight to Restore Balance Starts Now!!
Democratic Debate for 2020 Presidential Election

 
As a Latter-Day Saint Bishop, I am expected to stay somewhat politically neutral publicly. This has been one of the hardest parts about my calling. I need to hold my Ward together. New England is more liberal than the LDS hub of the West, thank goodness. But there are strong opinions on both sides of the Political Isle within our Ward. A recent poll showed that 76 percent of Mormons vote Republican. There are more Democrats within wards on the East Coast, but still less then the general population. I need to be politically flexible and not insulting to either side. Long time members need to recognize that new members may have completely different political view points. It is not easy sometimes to keep us united. Especially since Trump was elected.

I was a new Bishop during the 2016 Presidential Elections, when Trump began his Hate filled Bully campaign and hijacked the Republican party, taking many Mormons with him to the extreme right. I tried to stay out of politics because of my calling. but I remember getting a sinking feeling a couple days before the election, What if Trump actually wins? Trumps bully pulpit would move from the campaign to the Presidency! And that is Just what Happened! If only the Democrats won! Instead we have had a rise of White Supremacist groups and Neo Nazi's! Daily verbal attacks against Democrats from the Highest office in the land, Daily verbal attacks on the Press from the White House! Attacks on freedom of the Press! Our constitution is under ATTACK! Trump is dividing this Nation! And I can't speak my mind because there are too many Republican Mormons who have fallowed Trump down his twisted version of patriotism! 

Well Guess What! I Will Not let my Calling shut my Voice! Not This Time! We have an opportunity to fix things! to Vote in a New President. One who is not Toxic! A president who can bring this Nation together, A President who Builds Bridges, Not Walls!
We need as many people that can to vote Democrat, whether it is Buttigieg, Biden or Sanders that wins the Democratic Primary! Or one of the other Candidates who spoke at the first Democratic Debate for the 2020 Election. We need to remove the Toxic Masculinity that is running rampant through the White House! It is time for the Alpha males to step aside and make way for the Betas! There is Too much fear mongering, intimidation and Bullying coming from the current administration. It is destroying our democracy and fragmenting our Nation. We need to band together and remove the Bully From the Pulpit!

A Well Regulated Militia

  The Second Amendment is the right to protect the land we own (with arms), not to form Citizen Militias. Citizen Militias may not be illegal till they attack the Capital, but they are Not a Right, and they are Not Needed!     Let's take a look at The Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution Which reads:  " A well regulated Militia , being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed." The first part is explaining the reason for the right, the second part is the right which is to keep and bare arms. Adding the words Because, and therefore makes it more clear.   " Because a well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, Therefore the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed."   "Well Regulated" can only refer to Government, Whether that be National, State or Local. Woes of the Bishop of a Dying Ward

Nobody knows the woes of the Bishop of a dying Ward.  This is me three and a half years ago. When this picture was taken, I was recently called as Bishop of a Ward in New England. I was still full of energy and hope and excitement and nervousness, and a strong sense of feeling overwhelmed. The sense of feeling overwhelmed has never gone away. But back then I had hope for the future of the Ward and a clear direction to grow the Ward. Three months before I was called as Bishop, I was called as Cub Scout Den leader. I didn't release myself from that calling until last year (A few months before the Church announced they would stop the Boy Scout program). I had a mission to revitalize the Scouting program in my Ward. But soon after this hiking trip I had my first big blow. My Cub Scout Master and his family moved back out west.
